AnnualCreditReport.com Review, Free credit reports
AnnualCreditReport.com allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
The service is free and you do not have to sign up for anything — although they will give you an option to.
In general, it’s a good idea to check your credit report at least once a year. As a strategy, you can request each report 4 months apart — i.e., one from each company — through AnnualCreditReport.com.

While it’s a great service, the usability leaves something to be desired. I was able to use it without any real difficulties (though it didn’t flow) but the friend I recommended it to (who is less web or PF savvy) found it difficult. I expect this could be a turn-off. But don’t be discouraged…it really is a great service and can save you a lot of money. Just be prepared.
This site is crucial to people who think they are being scammed. I used it during a time of personal crisis. I had just finished applying to a set of colleges, which included giving them a lot of personal information. There was a news report that hackers had broken into one of the schools databases and taken a lot of applicant information.
I used annualcreditreport.com to check on my stuff, and thankfully, none of my personal information was used.
